Affiliate Summit West 2013 registrations are on the verge of selling out.

It looks like the final day to register, before we reach capacity, will be Friday, December 28.

As you may be aware, typically after we have to close registrations, a secondary market pops up with people selling passes on eBay. These are independent of us and the prices often go for 50%, 100%, or more of the face value.

Monetizing Instructional Videos

Q: Is putting an instructional video on YouTube a form of affiliate marketing? I watch girls showing how to apply make-up then they feature the line and girls showing how to apply fake hair, some without featuring products. Is it better to have an instructional video on YouTube or to put the video on my site? YouTube gets alot of exposure.

Shawn CollinsA: Yes, YouTube does get a lot of exposure. It is the #2 search engine behind Google.

As far as whether the videos you are seeing are being monetized through affiliate marketing, it depends on the relationship the person in the video has with the advertiser.

In some cases, the advertiser will pay a flat fee to people to make videos.

If you see a video where the URL featured in the video or description that goes to a site other than the advertiser, then they are likely an affiliate.

When it comes to putting your videos on YouTube or your own site, I would encourage you to upload to YouTube, and then embed the videos from YouTube to your site, so you can optimize your exposure with YouTube and Google.

Also, check out the Video SEO Plugin for WordPress to get a greater impact in the Google results for your posts that include videos.

Dell World 2012 in Austin

The second annual Dell World conference took place this week in Austin, TX.

Dell World featured an impressive roster of keynotes, including Dell Chairman and CEO, Michael Dell; President Bill Clinton; and Freakonomics authors, Steven D. Levitt and Stephen J. Dubner.

Michael Dell spoke about the evolution of Dell into an end-to-end solutions provider, and the innovative ways organizations are utilizing Dell products and services.

And then President Clinton touched on a wide range of topics including how technology and interconnectedness have made a positive impact on global issues.

There was also an exhibition area with a chance to learn more about solutions.

I really enjoyed the interactive discussions in the social media area of the exhibit hall.

It was really cool to see live storyboards of the discussions – such an awesome was to capture the big points.

Dell World also provided an opportunity to play with their latest tablets and notebooks.

While the notebooks were all sleek, elegant and powerful, I was really entranced by the Latitude 10 tablet. I can definitely see getting one of those in the near future.

Affiliate Summit West 2013 Heading for a Sell Out

Affiliate Summit West 2013 is on schedule to sell out in late December or early January, based on sales patterns of past Affiliate Summits.

As of this morning, there are a little more than 700 registration slots remaining out of more than 5,000. This will be the biggest Affiliate Summit to date.
