Affiliate Summit West 2010 is Sold Out

Affiliate Summit West 2010, starting on Sunday, January 17th at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas is now sold out.

This conference makes it 14 times in a row that attendee registrations for Affiliate Summit have closed before the event, due to capacity.

We will be double-checking our attendee list for any duplicate registrations and as we process any cancellations, the Web site will open up and additional registrations will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.

Business Cards are Important

I am getting low on my metal business cards, so I figured I’d better get a bunch of new cards for Affiliate Summit West 2010.

This time around, I figured I would go with something pretty simple that fit my typical conversation during Affiliate Summit – it’s usually as I’m racing to put out some fire behind the scenes, and I don’t have time to talk, so I ask if we can chat after the conference.

The front just has my name, and the back has my email, Twitter, Facebook, and AIM contacts.

Anyhow, if you don’t have business cards on hand at Affiliate Summit, you’re blowing off opportunities. It doesn’t have to be fancy or conventional. Just provide a method for people who are interested in striking deals to reach you.

There’s still time to get business cards from lots of places. I used Vistaprint, because they’re cheap, and consistent, and they have lots of shipping options to meet pretty much any deadline.

Even if you have some, are they doing the job for you?

Ask yourself… is your business card crap? It’s not too late to get a batch of them for Affiliate Summit West 2010.

New Path to Riches

I just read the book New Path to Riches by Nick Usborne, and I liked it a lot, but I think the title is a little bit misleading.

Shawn CollinsIn the book, Nick goes into detail about creating and monetizing sites, and I think the advice is very useful for people just getting into the business.

But I don’t see it as a path to riches – realistically, most people won’t come close to being rich from their sites. Nick is candid about expectations on the back of the book, as he explains that people following his recommendations could make $500, $1,000, or even $5,000 more a month.

I suppose it depends on your definition of riches, but I don’t think anybody added $6,000 to their annual income will consider themselves rich, because of it.

Anyhow, aside from the title, I think it’s a useful book, and it’s a quick read.

Readers can learn the steps to pulling together a quality site and making money on it.

Also, and this is something of a minor issue, but I didn’t care for the font. It was sort of big. which made it hard for me to read for some ready (I have 20/20 vision). If I had it to do over, I’d grab it on the Kindle instead.

Otherwise, I recommend it for folks getting into site building and monetization.

People have their resolutions about getting fit in 2010. By January 10, I should have no problem getting my favorite treadmill each day.

Face it, these new years resolutions are most often broken promises, whether they are personal or professional intentions to complete a project or reform a habit.

Set concrete goals for yourself and track them – not some dubious plan that will flame out before the Jets meet the Saints in the Super Bowl next month (you like how I worked that in?).

It can be one thing, five things, or 20 things – sit down and work out what you want to accomplish this year. And then put each goal in your calendar with a deadline.

Personally, I love Google Calendar for this, because it syncs well with a Blackberry or iPhone and it’s there on any computer when I login. But you can do this on all sorts of platforms.

Here’s your first goal: read Getting Things Done by David Allen. Go now and order it online and knock it out in a few days.

Also, go and bookmark UpgradeMe.org and start reading it – the guy behind it, Aaron Dragushan, had great tips on becoming more productive.

Stop the madness in 2010 and make your breaks.
