Submit Your Affiliate Summit West 2016 Speaking Proposal

Speaking proposals for Affiliate Summit West 2016, taking place January 10-12, 2016 in Las Vegas, are now being accepted.

The submission deadline is Friday, September 4, 2015. Any submissions after this date will not be considered.

One complimentary VIP pass is provided to speakers. Travel and hotel are not included.

Accepted speakers will be notified no later than Friday, September 25, 2015. If you have not been contacted by Friday, September 25, 2015, your proposal was not accepted.

Amazon Affiliate Banner Ads Must Be Updated by July 31, 2015

Amazon has sent a handful of emails to affiliates to give a heads up that they are making a platform change that will require updates to the affiliate code for some older product links, banners, and widgets.

Amazon is changing their affiliate tracking platform.

The deadline to make the changes is July 31, 2015. The affected ad units will no longer be supported after July 31, 2015.

The good news is that text links are not impacted by this change.

Since I like to live on the edge, I have been pushing this task to the future for a while, but I finally took care of it with five days to spare.

Fortunately, Amazon has a page for affiliates with the URLs that have ad units that need to be updated, and then the new code is a click away.

Starting August 1, 2015, any remaining links (text + image, image-only), banners, and widgets that are listed in the affiliate interface to change will be served with non-clickable public service announcements that will not send traffic to Amazon.

On September 1, 2015, these legacy ad units will no longer render, so they will result in a broken link on your site.

Affiliate Summit East 2015 Donates $17,056 to Fight Breast Cancer

The Race to Affiliate Summit East 2015, an exercise challenge where Affiliate Summit committed to donating $1 to benefit the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer in support of Affiliate Marketers Give Back for each mile in the challenge, has completed.

Affiliate Summit Against CancerParticipants cycled, run, swam, and walked to add up miles for the charity competition.

There were 56 folks involved in the challenge, and the top ten competitors accumulated 12,697 miles.

Overall, there were 17,056 miles tallied by all of the participants, so the total donation was $17,056.

Thank you so much to everybody who participated and helped to make this charity donation from Affiliate Summit.

The participant with the most total miles at the end of the challenge, Justin Ball with 3,832 miles, will receive a VIP Pass to Affiliate Summit West 2016.

The 2nd to 5th place finishers will each receive a Networking Plus Pass to Affiliate Summit West 2016, and 6th to 10th place finishers will each receive a Networking Pass to Affiliate Summit West 2016.

Affiliate Summit West 2016 is taking place January 10-12, 2016 at Paris Las Vegas in Las Vegas, NV.

Registration Open for Performance Marketing Summit San Francisco 2015

There is a Performance Marketing Summit coming up in San Francisco, CA on September 15, 2015, and attendee registrations are now open.

The event will run from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm at the San Francisco Marriott Fisherman’s Wharf. The early bird rate to register is $59, and that will go up after August 14, 2015 to $99.

The Performance Marketing Summit is run by Affiliate Summit, but it’s a different, small event that is limited to 100 people, and the sessions all last just 18 minutes.

Set Up Facebook Authorship for Your Blog

Facebook recently implemented Author Tags, which makes it easy for Facebook readers to start following you on Facebook after they have read an article of yours that was shared on Facebook.

The tag enables you to connect your byline in a story preview in the News Feed to your Facebook page or profile with “Follow”.

The connection between byline and Page or Profile is created after a person clicks through a web article posted to Facebook. When the reader returns to News Feed after reading the article, the story preview will display a Follow button at the bottom of the News Feed unit for journalists with Facebook Profiles and a Like button for journalists with Facebook Pages. A text link to the author’s profile or Page is displayed as well. People who click on the Follow or Like button will start receiving updates from the author’s Profile or Page.
