I was just checking out the news headlines before going to sleep. Just a bit curious to find out what the big police action was today at Newark Airport as I passed by on the NJ Turnpike.
Turns out an American Airlines flight was forced to land due to suspicion that some of the passengers (“Five airline passengers speaking in foreign languages and carrying aircraft flight materials”) were terrorists.
Happily a false alarm. Anyhow, after being relieved there, I straggled over for a quick peek at one of my favorite blogs, Jangro.com.
It seem Scott Jangro, a former Be Free guy, once had high hopes for the CJ platform. He had high apple pie, in the sky hopes. But he became disenchanted when CJ didn’t adopt some of the much liked attributes of Be Free’s BFAST reporting.net platform.
So anyhow, he’s been reporting lately how some high profile Be Free clients have been eschewing the migration from Be Free to CJ as Be Free contracts expire. Recent bold faced names he reported as choosing LinkShare have been Dicks Sporting Goods, OnlineShoes, ShopNBC, and TigerDirect.
Jangro figures “One reason for this is that the CJ platform has made very little progress to accommodate the old Be Free clients who may be reluctant to give up the non-network and advanced reporting.”
“To the big, old-school Be Free clients, the more Be Free-like LinkShare platform probably seems a lot more like home than the CJ platform. They’ve just got to give up too much control and functionality on CJ,” continued Jangro.
With the imminent closure of Be Free, Scott has created The Be Free Death Pool at ExBeFree.com. He’s got a thing going on where folks can guess the month, date, and year they think the Be Free platform will cease to exist.
He’s also got an ExBeFree forum for discussion on the demise of Be Free and updates.
Somewhere, Heidi and Steve are smiling.
