I was watching an interview at SXSW the other day between Roger Bennett (Men in Blazers) and Jürgen Klinsmann (Head Coach of the US men’s national soccer team). It was a really entertaining and informative chat.
However, there were some rude idiots in the crowd who were apparently not interested.
As I tried to enjoy the session, there were people in front of me who were whispering loudly, and then some guys behind me who started having an inane conversation in regular speaking voices.
What the hell happened to manners? I truly don’t understand these people who have no awareness of their surroundings, whether it be a conference session, movie, play, or whatever.
Is it a secret to some people that it’s rude and disrespectful to act like this?
People, when you are out seeing some sort of performance, you’re not in your living room. Nobody cares where you want to go for lunch. If they did, your dopey conversation would be up on the stage.
If you are one of the people who doesn’t understand, here is a simple guide or you – if you are watching some sort of speaker or other entertainment in public, be quiet and attentive or be gone.
I love how Alamo Drafthouse lays down the law and boots people who insist on talking in movies.
I’d like to see more of this when it comes to clueless, disruptive creeps.
