Mobile Advertising is Explosive

August 5, 2007 by Shawn Collins

I was just reading the latest newsletter from mobile advertising network AdMob, and they report a run-rate that exceeds one billion ads per month.

Clearly, there is the inventory out there, but I’m not seeing mobile ads in affiliate programs. What gives?

While I wait for the traditional affiliate networks to provide me with mobile ad options, I’m going to invest my efforts more with AdMob.

Here is a sample of the advertisers they’ve currently got in their stable: Adidas, Disney, eBay, eFax, Electronic Arts, Jamster, Microsoft, MTV Mobile, Nokia, Paramount, Proctor & Gamble, Starbucks, plus hundreds of other advertisers.

Any merchants in the news and/or sports verticals should take note – a couple new publishers/affiliates at AdMob are CBS (CBS News and CBS SportsLine) and ESPN.

Two other neat things they’re doing over there are a tool that enables advertisers to create mobile web pages for their ads and an iPhone specific ad unit.
