The days of building a Web site, slapping it on the Internet and expecting people to magically tune in are long gone for real estate companies and agents. With three quarters of home buyers starting their searches on the Web, online lead generation plans now require much more strategy.
One way of throwing a wide net to the Internet is through affiliate marketing, said panelists during an Inman News audio conference, “Secrets of guerilla lead generation.” Affiliate marketing is “largely the same sort of model that’s been offline for decades,” said Shawn Collins, president and CEO of Shawn Collins Consulting.
“Essentially you have a whole sales force out there working on your behalf,” he said. To set up a program, agents would recruit people and provide them with tools to go out and market the agent’s services through targeted e-mail lists and targeted Web sites.
