Q: I would like to ask you if a weekly newsletter is a common thing to affiliates? Usually, I don’t send mail to my affiliates. I usually post them personally.
A: No, weekly newsletters are something of a rarity for affiliate programs, though somewhat popular for CPA networks (because they constanly roll out fresh offers).
Monthly affiliate newsletters are relatively common, but the majority offer little more than links to the respective merchant.
I’d suggest publishing a monthly newsletter to your affiliates with affiliate program and company news, information on your most effective creative, suggestions for methods to succeed that are unique to your program, details on new promotions, etc.
If you don’t have anything to say, the best course of action is to not mail your affiliates. Too many affiliate managers feel compelled to mail their affiliates in an effort to stay top of mind, but you’re working against yourself if your communications do not have any value.
In the event you have frequent news to communicate, I would suggest getting an affiliate program blog. Then the affiliates that wish to hear from you often can subscribe to your RSS feed.
