Amazon Wants to Make Every Prime Customer an Affiliate

November 10, 2014 by Shawn Collins

I got an email from Amazon encouraging me to refer my friends to them to get a free trial of Amazon Prime.

Big group of people looking up.

Amazon is offering a $5 credit to any Prime member who refers a friend to the free trial.

Here is the text of the email from them…

As a loyal Prime member, we wanted to let you know about a new opportunity for members. We just launched a program that makes it easy to tell your friends about Prime. And the best part? You get $5 to spend on Amazon.com for each friend that starts a free trial. Start referring today. It’s easy.

The referral reporting will show inside of the Amazon user account, and they currently are only encouraging customers to refer by email though Amazon or on Facebook.

I wonder if this indicates a shift for Amazon to make it easy for all of their customers to be affiliates?

It’s an interesting prospect, but that would also be a whole lot more competition for the existing affiliates.
