Amazon to Go Head to Head with Google AdSense?

February 5, 2006 by Shawn Collins

Amazon is looking into launching a competing network to Google AdSense, according to Chris Beasley at SitePoint.

Apparently, Amazon has been contacting select Amazon Associates about being beta testers of this new contextual advertising network.

This could be interesting, as Amazon and Google announced a “multi-year agreement that will make Google’s search technology and targeted sponsored links available on Amazon.com,” on April 3, 2003.

Alexa.com (owned by Amazon) is showing sponsored results from Google today, but will they still be there on April 4, 2006?

Update: Dave Taylor has gotten some answers straight from Amazon. Check out his blog for details.
