I was looking over the AdSense ads running on an affiliate marketing site and came across one with the inflammatory headline, Why Affiliates Don’t Work.
The advertiser goes on to claim that you can “Find out what affiliate sites don’t want you to know!” and they’ll tell it all to you in their “free report.”
I couldn’t contain my curiosity, so I clicked to get a hold of that report. The landing page screamed at me:
ARE AFFILIATE PROGRAMS PROMISING YOU MONEY?
But Actually Costing You More?
- Affiliate Programs DO NOT work!
- They take your ” one-time” payment and you never hear from them again.
- Enter your information to recieve (sic) a full affiliate program report and find out what you can do to actually make money online!
At that point, I figured do I really need this guy’s hokey report? After all, he’s got some warped notion that there is a “one time” payment required to join an affiliate program.
That sort of arrangement wouldn’t work for me either. It sounds like the engineer of this confusing campaign got affiliate programs mixed up with pyramid schemes.
Anyhow, I went and submitted my information to get the free report, and it was nothing more than a four paragraph e-mail from an Eric Lankton, who runs payjumper.com.
The big revelation? Hold on to your seats…
Affiliate Programs DO NOT WORK! They cost you money and never pay out like they promise. There is one answer for you. DO NOT invest in them. For the price of an affiliate program… you can have your own business! Yes you read right, your own business!
According to the report, just visit his site and you will “be well on your way to making the money of your dreams.”
If you’re going to bash affiliate marketing, it would be good to understand what you’re bashing, Mr. Ponzi Lankton.
