Q: I am promoting an affiliate product, and I have created a lead capture page that is just like the sales page of my merchant. The question I want to ask is this… how can I insert the purchase link into my lead capture page without having my visitors have to go through my affiliate link? What I mean here is that since my lead page also acts as a sales page, I need a link that brings visitors straight to the order page. Or maybe there is some way I can do a double redirection – first, redirect the link to my affiliate link, then redirect it to the order page. Is that possible?
A: The thing here is that you could probably monkey around and get this to work, but there will be a question of whether the tracking then works properly if you’re not using a link structure provided by the affiliate program.
I would suggest that the easiest and most logical route would be to go to your affiliate manager and ask for a link to this specific page.
Ask them to create a custom link for you if there is no way for you to do it on your own.
Otherwise, the affiliate manager may view your efforts as deceitful if you’re trying to link in a way that is not made available via the affiliate program.
Also, in addition to the risk that your method doesn’t track, you might also be violating the affiliate agreement.
And if the tracking doesn’t work correctly due to your changing the links, I doubt you’ll get much pity when you ask why you didn’t earn any commission.
Save yourself some time and limit your own risk by calling up your affiliate manager today.
