Affiliate Summit West 2015 Has Raised $11,382 So Far to Fight Breast Cancer

The Race to Affiliate Summit West 2015, a dailymile challenge where Affiliate Summit will donate $1 to benefit the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer in support of Affiliate Marketers Give Back team for each mile exercised through the challenge, is going through 12/31/2014.

There are currently 52 folks involved in the challenge, and the top 10 competitors have already accumulated 8,497 miles.

Overall, there have been 11,382 miles tallied by all of the participants, so it’s $11,382 raised (so far).

I am currently at #7 (see my dailymile profile) with my 416 miles. I’ve signed up for the 2015 Avon Walk for Breast Cancer in NYC, as well as a Tough Mudder in central Texas in May 2015, so I won’t be letting up.

Affiliate Summit West 2015 is taking place January 18-20, 2015 at Paris Las Vegas in Las Vegas, NV.

The participant with the most total miles at the end of the challenge will receive a VIP Pass to Affiliate Summit East 2015. 2nd to 5th place finishers will each receive a Networking Plus Pass to Affiliate Summit East 2015, and 6th to 10th place finishers will each receive a Networking Pass to Affiliate Summit East 2015.

There will be a Type-A Vegas Bootcamp co-located with Affiliate Summit West 2015 at Paris Las Vegas in January 2015.

Type-A Vegas Bootcamp

The Type-A Vegas Bootcamp will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2015 at Paris Las Vegas, and registered attendees will receive a complimentary Networking Plus pass to Affiliate Summit West 2015, taking place at Paris Las Vegas on January 18-20, 2015.

The focus of the bootcamp is for parent bloggers to make more money online.

This is a great opportunity for affiliate managers to network with parent bloggers, who are highly motivated to earn with affiliate programs.

The Journey I Took to be an Entrepreneur

I was just watching a video from a presentation I gave at David Vogelpohl’s AUSOME meetup at Capital Factory in Austin, TX, and I realized I never shared it.

I talked about how going through two tough times in less than a year became the catalyst for me to go out and live the life I wanted to live.

Plenty of people start their journey as an entrepreneur, because they just have it in their gut. I was trying to be satisfied with working in a cubicle for somebody else.

I was never satisfied with it, though. But it took a couple shitty days to make me brutally aware that fear of failure is nothing compared to waking up one day and realizing that you tolerated life, instead of living it.

One of the people in the audience was uphappy about the lack of practical advice I shared, and she posted a review about it. Looking back, she never did respond to my comment on her blog post.

No sleep was lost.

Amazon Wants to Make Every Prime Customer an Affiliate

I got an email from Amazon encouraging me to refer my friends to them to get a free trial of Amazon Prime.

I wonder if this indicates a shift for Amazon to make it easy for all of their customers to be affiliates?

It’s an interesting prospect, but that would also be a whole lot more competition for the existing affiliates.

Sean Paul to Perform at Affiliate Ball During Affiliate Summit West 2015

The Affiliate Ball, the official party on the Monday of Affiliate Summit West 2015, has confirmed that Sean Paul will be performing at the event.

Congratulations to U.S. Senator Cory Booker

Cory Booker was elected yesterday to his first full-term as a United States Senator from New Jersey. Senator Booker has been in the U.S. Senate since October 2013, when he won a special election to serve out the remainder of the late Frank Lautenberg’s term.

He was the keynote speaker at Affiliate Summit East 2008, which took place August 11, 2008 in Boston, back when he was the Mayor of Newark, NJ.

Cory Booker was elected as Mayor of Newark, NJ in 2006, but he first ran for Mayor in 2002. During that election, I was running his campaign website. The Academy Award nominated Street Fight documentary was about that first campaign.

I remember being so disapponted when he lost in 2002, but he was really upbeat about it, and he vowed to win the next election. He hasn’t lost an election since then.
