Ken Evoy and Shawn Collins on Blogging vs. Building a Theme-Based Content Site

November 17, 2011 by Shawn Collins

I recently had a nice chat with Ken Evoy, founder of SiteSell and creator of SBI!, and we discussed the differences between blogging vs. building a theme-based content site.

Make Your Site SellI’ve known Ken since the 90’s(!), when I read his book “Make Your Site SELL!” (MYSS!), and it was fun to catch up and talk about creating affiliate sites.

Some things we touched on…

  • The changes in the affiliate marketing landscape from 1997 to today
  • What you need to know when starting an affiliate business now
  • Who blogging is for (and not for)
  • Who theme-based content sites are for
  • What happens when you take a break from blogging
  • What happens when you put a content site on auto-pilot
  • Socialization of the Net and how it augments your business
  • Which platforms deliver a complete package of process-and-tools for building a successful e-business

Enjoy the chat and if you haven’t gotten your first affiliate site up, yet, get it going.

Anybody can do it – it just takes patience, diligence, and a unique idea.

buy.at Launches AdPad Widget for Affiliates

November 17, 2011 by Shawn Collins

buy.at has partnered with Klickthru for the launch of the AdPad widget.

AdPad

AdPad is an advertisement and content syndication widget that slides over an affiliate site and can easily be closed by visitors.

The widget utilizes a CPC (cost-per-click) payment model and delivers both ad feeds and content from the Associated Press and other partners.

Visitors to affiliate sites using AdPad will be able to read full articles within the AdPad, so the affiliate won’t lose the traffic.

Facebook Integration with AWeber

November 16, 2011 by Shawn Collins

AWeber has introduced Facebook registration for AWeber email opt-in web forms.

When AWeber users enable Facebook registration for their web forms, visitors will automatically have their name and email address displayed in your form if they are logged in to Facebook.

AWeber and Facebook

Those not logged in to Facebook will simply see the normal web form.

The Facebook feature is easy to use on new and existing forms in AWeber. There is a checkbox during the web form creation/edit process.

Then, when you place the form on your site or send people to the AWeber hosted version, the Facebook registration will be available.

I would suggest incorporating this into your list building strategies right now, because it makes it easier for people to opt-in, emails collected this way are more likely to be valid, and there is no chance for typos.
