I’ve been seeing quite a bit of media coverage today on The Prepaid Healthcare Visa® Gift Card at givewell.com.

Given the state of so many folks lacking health insurance or needing help with items that aren’t covered, I figured it would make for a compelling item to promote as an affiliate.

So I went to the site to check whether they had an affiliate program in place. No luck.

But while at their site, I was poking around and read in their FAQ…

Where can I use the card?
The card can be used anywhere merchants or service providers accept Visa debit cards.

So basically, it’s a debit card with healthcare buzzwords written on it.

The recipient could use it for cigarettes, beer, and cookies, as much as for eye exams, co-pays, and emergency care.

But I give credit to the people that thought this up. They managed to generate some nice buzz.

The whole concept brings an opportunity to mind. Affiliates could market debit cards for pretty much any use.

Why not position a generic debit card as being a gift card for baseball tickets, scrapbooking, domains, or peanut butter?

So have at it - take some debit card offers and tell your niche audience how they can be used for purchasing in the niche.
