While Black Friday online retail sales were up only 1% on Black Friday compared with 2007, LinkShare experienced a dramatic increase over Black Friday in 2007.
So far, for the holiday season in 2008, $10.41 billion has been spent online, according to comScore.
This marks a 4-percent decline versus the corresponding days last year. However, online spending on Black Friday totaled $534 million for a 1 percent increase.
And the combination of Thanksgiving Day and Black Friday resulted in an increase of 2 percent for online sales compared with last year, based on findings from comScore.
In contrast, preliminary data shows that the LinkShare network is up 17% year over year on a same store basis.
LinkShare attributes the increase to their commitment to helping members of the network maximize Black Friday profits through communication, promotions, offers, and successful planning.
The categories where LinkShare saw the greatest revenue were department stores, apparel, toys/games, and high-end luxury brands.
I look forward to seeing numbers on LinkShare and the other affiliate networks for the Cyber Mondays leading to Christmas.
