Affiliate Manager Boot Camp: Recruiting, Educating, and Retaining Affiliates Kindle Edition
Drawing on his ten years of experience as an affiliate manager and his work as an affiliate marketer since 1997, Collins reveals a process for cultivating and maintaining relationships with affiliates.
The book describes a method that focuses on quality over quantity when it comes to affiliates, and it recommends working side by side with affiliates as valuable partners in a mutually beneficial affiliation.
Affiliate Manager Boot Camp: Recruiting, Educating, and Retaining Affiliates is not about the other nuts and bolts of starting and running an affiliate program.
You won't learn about policing affiliates, setting budgets and projections, determining commission rates, etc. It's all about recruiting, educating, and retaining affiliates for a strong affiliate program.
Collins' first affiliate management book, Successful Affiliate Marketing for Merchants, published in 2001, was dubbed the "bible of affiliate marketing" by Revenue Magazine.
He also wrote the international best-selling Extra Money Answer in 2013, which was a step-by-step guide for creating an affiliate website.

To be honest, I've known Shawn for years, seeing him at many conferences, exchanging emails and in more recent years, chatting it up over various social networks. Regardless, Affiliate Manager Boot Camp was exactly what I needed. It's a solid primer for the affiliate manager. If you're completely new to the game, there's certainly a lot to take in. But even if you've been around for years like myself, there's plenty of angles and approaches you've probably never even thought about.
What I like best about the book is that it's written in a very straight-forward, conversational way. It's as if Shawn were giving a class lecture of sorts. Don't expect a highbrow, intellectual type book here. (No offense, Shawn!) But that's not what this book's intent even is. It's a great overview of what it means to be an Affiliate Manager, along with a number of key ideas for setting up an affiliate program, recruiting top affiliates and retaining those affiliates.
The reason this book works is that Shawn has already done it. He's been a successful Affiliate Manager and he's sharing that knowledge with his readers through legitimate examples. Having something concrete to work off of and base my own management styles after is certainly a huge help. Overall it's a great, quick read to get your head (and business) in the game.
Now I'd like to see Shawn put out a way more detailed series of books or online courses, diving much deeper into each area of the industry.
Firstly I would like to say thank you to Mr: Shawn Collins for once again taking his time to write a book that's not only informative and to the point it is valuable and a must have/add. (Not to your collection of scrap, more within reach) I have read the book 3 times, yes, it is a simple book, yet the simple things in life is what we tend to forget. I am no exception, if anything living proof.
The Value of Affiliate Manager Boot Camp: I can truly say that this book in general is very informative, however the fact that this book touches on the topic "Quality vs. Quantity" made me feel like a million bucks, as this is a FACT! To this very day when I speak to potential merchants who are interested in launching or exploring the opportunities in this channel the common question I am asked is "How many affiliates can you get me?"...
In addition, supporting, respecting, acknowledging, educating, and making time to assist your current and upcoming partners plays a crucial role in your performance metrics.
Conclusion: This book is worth every penny, if you understand that knowledge is power.
I have been building, managing, and launching affiliate programs (I refer to affiliates as partners btw, it comes across more personal in my opinion) for a little over 9+ years. I have seen many AM's come and go, due to lack of performance mainly caused by the lack of understanding of the core basic concepts which are the foundation for success in this industry.
This is by far the least financially inexpensive investment you will ever make.
Don't let its small size fool you...its slim pages are packed full of great tips, techniques and real world examples from Shawn's management days. New affiliate managers will discover a wealth of easily actionable information delivered in a no-nonsense style and if you're an active affiliate manager, this book will help you refocus on the main task you have: growing your program by finding great affiliates, empowering them, and helping them succeed.
